POTOSI, Wis. — Grant County authorities say a Potosi couple escaped injury when a stray bullet pierced their home.
The sheriff’s department said in a statement that a hunter fired three shots at a buck from about a half a mile from the home Friday morning. When deputies arrived, they found a hole in the dining room area. Deputies say they followed the bullet’s path through two other interior walls and then through a wooden chair spindle before it struck a large metal gun safe in one bedroom.
The homeowners were sitting in the dining area when the bullet struck. The report says it missed 65-year-old Ruth Kartman by about eight feet.
The sheriff’s department says the 26-year-old hunter could be charged with endangering safety by use of a dangerous weapon.
