MINONG -- The season came to an end for the Northwood High School volleyball team with a 3-0 (26-24, 25-13, 25-17) loss to Prentice in a WIAA Division 4 sectional semifinal game Thursday night in Minong.
The Buccaneers (19-11) now play the winner of the Luck-McDonell Central match at 7 p.m. Saturday in Chippewa Falls for a berth in next week’s state tournament in Madison.
Northwood (19-5) got the start it wanted and led by as many as nine points in the first game, but Prentice rallied to win opener 26-24.
The Buccaneers carried the momentum from their first-game rally over to game two and dominated the Evergreens with a 25-13 win for a 2-0 lead.
Prentice completed the sweep with a 25-17 win in game three.
