Wisconsin woman in ‘critical’ condition after crash with St. Croix County squad car

STAR PRAIRIE, Wis. — A woman was severely injured Thursday evening when a St. Croix County deputy responding to an emergency call lost control of his squad car and struck her vehicle.
Carolyn Quenzer, 58, of Star Prairie was in critical condition Friday morning, according to a spokeswoman at Regions Hospital in St. Paul.
However, Sgt. Steve Tape of the Wisconsin State Patrol said her injuries are not considered “life threatening.”
Quenzer was flown to the hospital from the accident scene on Highway 65. The crash was reported at 5:43 p.m.
The squad car was driven by Deputy James Haefner, 36, of Hudson, who was taken by ambulance to Westfield Hospital in New Richmond, Wis. He was treated and released.
The accident is being investigated by the Wisconsin State Patrol.
