Assembly, congressional debates on tap

KUWS will hold assembly and congressional debates Oct. 27 in Manion Theater at UW-Superior. Both will be broadcast live on 91.3 FM and 102.9 FM Wisconsin Public Radio station KUWS 91.3 FM will hold a debate for candidates in Wisconsin’s 73rd Assembly District at 6 p.m. Wednesday featuring incumbent Nick Milroy, D-South Range, and Republican challenger Bonnie Baker of Superior.

Wisconsin Public Radio station KUWS 91.3 FM will hold a debate for candidates in Wisconsin’s 73rd Assembly District at 6 p.m. Wednesday featuring incumbent Nick Milroy, D-South Range, and Republican challenger Bonnie Baker of Superior.

Immediately following is a debate featuring candidates in Wisconsin’s 7th Congressional District at 7 p.m. This is the only congressional debate for the 7th District to be held north of Wausau and the only debate at which all three candidates for the seat will appear. Republican Sean Duffy, Democrat Julie Lassa and Independent Gary Kauther are all vying for the seat.

Both debates will be held in Manion Theater in the Holden Fine Arts Center at the University of Wisconsin-Superior. The debates will be broadcast live on KUWS 91.3 FM in the Superior area and 102.9 FM. in the Ashland area.

Candidates will answer questions from news reporters. The debate is moderated by Dr. Al Katz, professor emeritus at UW-Superior.

The Superior Landlord Association Program is also hosting a debate Monday night at the Superior Public Library featuring candidates for the Wisconsin Assembly. Baker and Milroy answer questions from a life and television audience. The debate runs 6:30-8 p.m. A copy of the debate will be available to check out of the library, and rebroadcasts are at 7 a.m. and 9 p.m. Tuesday, noon Thursday and 2 p.m. Oct. 30.

Organizer Marty Curtiss said members of the landlord organization will take written questions by phone and from the audience.

The debate is open to the public.

For more information on the candidates running for congress, tune in this weekend. WDIO-TV will broadcast the Oct. 17 Wausau debate between Duffy and Lassa at 1 p.m. Sunday.
