NHS volleyball team goes 2-2 in HON meet

The Northwestern Tigers went 2-2 at Saturday’s Heart O’ North Conference volleyball meet, held in Spooner.

The Tigers lost to Bloomer, 2-0, defeated Barron 2-0, lost to Chetek-Weyerhauser 2-0, and defeated Ladysmith 2-1.

The Hayward Hurricanes went a perfect 4-0 in matches to win the event. The Hurricanes dropped just one set throughout the meet.

Ally May led the Tigers on the day with 38 kills and 21 digs. Liz Urbaniak also had 20 kills, 15 digs and seven ace serves; Katy Konczak had 17 kills and 18 digs; Sarah Miller added 17 digs; and Aliex Friend had 76 set assists.

Northwestern, now 5-6 in the HON and 9-15 overall, is at Hayward at 5:30 p.m. Thursday for another HON tournament.
