Nemadji Golf Pro Mark Carlson shot a 75 to qualify for the Wisconsin Professional Golf Association Tournament at the Blue Mound Country Club in Milwaukee, but was eliminated from contention in his first match. (1980)
The Northwestern Tigers dominated Chetek 36-0 in a Heart O’ North Conference football game. Tiger quarterback Norm Olson scored a touchdown on a 20-yard run and he tossed a 31-yard TD pass to fullback Jeff Meisbauer, halfback Bob Pellman scored on runs of 14 and 53 yards and halfback Bruce Nelson carried for a 1-yard RD. The Superior Cathedral Junior High School football team launched its season with an 8-2 win over Cloquet. Tailback Steve Sickler scored the only touchdown of the game on a 12-yard run and quarterback Don Archambeau ran for the two-point conversion. (1981)
