MADISON (AP) — The head of Bucky Badger has been returned.
A University of Wisconsin-Madison student who’s one of several who play the role of mascot Bucky Badger told police he and his roommates had a get-together with friends at their Madison apartment Sunday night. He said the 28-pound Bucky head was missing when he awoke Monday morning.
The head is valued at $4,000, and the student told police he’d have no desire to press charges if it was returned unscathed.
Whoever took it apparently had second thoughts. It was found outside the apartment undamaged Tuesday morning.
Police spokesman Joel DeSpain says it would have been hard for anyone caught possessing the head to explain how they acquired it.
