SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (AP) — Sheboygan's police chief says an officer shot and killed a suspect who resisted arrest during a traffic stop early Friday.
The Sheboygan Press reports the coroner has identified the man as 52-year-old James L. Knee of Two Rivers. The coroner says Knee died of a bullet wound through the heart.
Chief Christopher Domagalski (dom-ah-GAL'-skee) says the officer stopped a car for a traffic violation about 1:30 a.m. He says the driver got out with his hand behind his back, refused the officer's commands and was stunned with a Taser gun. Domagalski says Knee then produced a handgun and threatened the officer before he was shot twice.
The chief says the 30-year-old officer has been on the force seven years. He's been placed on administrative leave.
