SUN PRAIRIE, Wis. (AP) — Sun Prairie police are asking residents for information after a person may have impersonated a police officer and pulled over a driver this week.
The Sun Prairie Police Department said a driver reported being pulled over on Highway 151 in Sun Prairie on Tuesday by a black Ford sedan-type vehicle that flashed blue lights, but didn't have a siren.
The Wisconsin State Journal reported that a man in his 40s approached the vehicle wearing a badge on his belt. He said he was a private investigator and asked for a driver's license. Eventually, the suspect told the driver he would not be cited for speeding and was allowed to go.
Area law enforcement agencies were contacted and reported that none of them had made the traffic stop.
