KENOSHA, Wis. (AP) — An Illinois teen is being called a hero for saving a 14-year-old swimmer in a Kenosha County lake.

Sheriff's Sgt. Tom Gilley says the 14-year-old was swimming in Silver Lake Park on Monday afternoon when he apparently got his leg stuck in underwater weeds.

Gilley says said 17-year-old Trevor Hall of Zion, Ill., swam toward the screaming boy.

Nicole Bollinger is Hall's cousin. She tells the Kenosha News that Hall reached the boy and pulled him to her into shallow water.

She says the boy was almost dead in her arms. She says he was purple and his eyes were rolled back in his head.

She says she gave him "half Heimlich," after which he vomited and began breathing. He was taken to a hospital, where Gilley says he was doing fine.

The deputy says Hall "saved the day."
