Charles Denasha, 46, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Sawyer County coroner, the Sheriff’s Office reported in release.
The Sheriff’s Office received a call at 5:34 a.m. that someone might have been hit by a car on County Highway E near Sweden’s apartments in the Town of Bass Lake. Sawyer County Ambulance and the Lac Courte Oreilles Fire Department responded along with sheriff’s deputies.
The driver of the vehicle, Domingo Aguilera, 52, told sheriff’s deputies he was traveling north on County Highway E north of Indian Lake Road on his way to work when he ran over Denasha. He said it was dark at the time, and he didn’t see Denasha in time to avoid hitting him.
There was evidence of alcohol in Denasha’s system, although his blood alcohol level was unknown, the release said.
