Appleton woman killed in head-on crash

BUCHANAN, Wis. (AP) — The Outagamie County Sheriff's Department says a 52-year-old Appleton woman was killed in a head-on collision with a driver who swerved into her path.

The woman was driving on a county highway near the town of Buchanan just after 8 a.m. Sunday morning when an 18-year-old man from Kaukauna heading in the other direction crossed the median and hit her head-on. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 18-year-old man was taken by ambulance to Theda Clark Hospital in Neenah and treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts.

The Outagamie County District Attorney's office is reviewing the case for possible charges.
