Driver’s medical episode damages 11 cars

Ronald Hartman, 69, is listed as a patient at St. Mary’s Hospital in Duluth. Hospital spokeswoman Kim Kaiser was unable to release any information on his condition.
Hartman was westbound on North 19th Street near Missouri Avenue when he struck a parked car and knocked off its rear-view mirror, according to a Superior Police Department accident report. He then turned north onto Lackawanna Street.
As he drove northbound, he struck a parked car head-on and crashed it back into two other parked cars. Hartman’s vehicle continued north through the intersection with Belknap Street and into the Shack parking lot, then crashed through two guardrail fences at the Best Western Hotel, striking one parked vehicle with enough force to spin it 180 degrees and then hitting a cluster of parked cars. In all, 11 vehicles were damaged including Hartman’s.
According to the report, Hartman was suffering a medical condition at the time of the accident. He was cited for having no valid driver’s license. According to the report, his license had been cancelled indefinitely.
