Single-vehicle accident claims one

One man is dead and a child was injured in a one-vehicle crash Saturday afternoon.

A 47-year old Douglas County man is dead and a child was seriously injured in a one-vehicle crash Saturday afternoon.

According to the Wisconsin State Patrol, troopers and the Douglas County Sheriff’s Department responded to a single vehicle crash on County Highway A, about one-quarter mile south of County Highway C around 3:35 p.m. Saturday.

The driver of the pickup truck, Warren T. Klinger of Foxboro, was found dead at the scene and a 4-year-old child was found near the truck.

The state patrol reports the child had no apparent injuries and family was called to the scene. It was discovered the child has sustained injuries and was transported by Gold Cross ambulance. A Douglas County Sheriff's Department report indicates the child sustained serious internal injuries.

The Superior Volunteer Fire Department also provided assistance at the scene.

The accident remains under investigation by the sheriff’s department and state patrol.
