A Superior woman accused of stealing more than $9,000 from the convenience store she managed made an initial appearance in Douglas County Circuit Court last week.

Rose Marie Williams, 41, faces one count of felony theft in a business setting for allegedly stealing numerous deposits from Allouez Citgo, 4204 E. Second St.

According to the criminal complaint:

The store manager is the only one with access to deposits, which are to be made daily. Williams was fired April 13 for a different matter.

After her dismissal, a security manager for Krist Oil, which owns Allouez Citgo, found seven deposits had not been made at the bank, six of them on the week prior to Williams’ firing. The total amount missing was $9,470.74, according to the complaint.

When contacted by Superior Police, Williams said she was high on meth the week before she was fired and couldn’t remember much. She told police that she would just take the deposits home and put them into her safe instead of going to the bank.

Williams just let the money pile up until she was fired. At that point, she told officers, she spent the money on drugs with the hope of selling some of them.

Williams was released on a $5,000 signature bond. Her next court appearance is next week.
