Downtown sidewalk days brings more road closures to Duluth

If you’re heading to Duluth next week, expect more street closures during Downtown Sidewalk Days, which runs Wednesday to Friday.

If you’re heading to Duluth next week, expect more street closures during Downtown Sidewalk Days, which runs Wednesday to Friday.

Superior Street between Lake Avenue and Fourth Avenue West are closed to through traffic throughout the three-day event from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. The avenues will be open to traffic, according to the Duluth Police Department.

Wednesday’s street closure will continue until 9 p.m. for the Downtown Sidewalk days Classic Car Show, which runs 5-8 p.m. on Superior Street from Third Avenue East to Fifth Avenue West. Normal traffic should resume by 9 p.m.

Thursday the 100 block of West Superior Street remains closed until 8 p.m. for Rock the Block, an outdoor music event.

Friday, July 9 the Downtown Sidewalk Days Street Dance runs from 6:30 p.m. to midnight in the 100 and 300 blocks of West First Street.

Saturday, July 10, 2010, Downtown Sidewalk Days Street Dance 6 p.m. to midnight in the 100 block of West Superior Street.

Parking will not be allowed on Superior Street during these times.

DTA buses and the Port Town Trolley will be detoured to Michigan and First Street during Sidewalk Days. Watch for posted “no parking” signs for temporary bus stops.

Since the Downtown Transit Center and Holiday Center Bus Stop will not be serviced by buses during this detour, DTA riders are advised to transfer at the Library or Radisson bus stops for easy connections to other buses.
