The parade begins at 1 p.m. Sunday at Morterelli Drive, then heads west on Belknap Street and north at Ogden Avenue, ending on Broadway Street. Entrants gather at Ole Haugsrud field. The judging stand will be set up in the Pilgrim Lutheran Church parking lot, 820 Belknap St.
A flyover of downtown Superior by fighter jets from the Minnesota Air National Guard’s 148th Fighter Wing is expected around 1 p.m.
The Independence Day Car Show begins at 3 p.m. on Tower Avenue between Belknap and Broadway streets.
The Superior Singers present its free summer concert, “100 Years of American Pop” at 3 p.m. at Pilgrim Lutheran Church.
Fireworks light the sky at dusk, about 10:15 p.m., at the Richard I. Bong Memorial Airport.
While Superior celebrates Independence Day, Gordon holds Good Neighbor Days.
The annual event begins Friday with a day-long flea market and a ball game in Mooney Ball Park. From 8 p.m. to midnight, the ball park will rock with live music from The Shackshakers.
Saturday kicks off with a pancake breakfast 7-11 a.m. at the Presbyterian Church. Registration for the 5k Race/Walk takes place from 7-8 a.m. at Mooney Ball Park with the race beginning at 8:30 a.m. A car show begins at noon next to the town hall and a parade through downtown Gordon begins at 2 p.m. The theme of the parade is Gordon’s 150th. A duck race takes place at 4 p.m. at the Eau Claire River Bridge on County Road Y, followed by additional activities downtown. Kids’ races and games begin at 7 p.m. in the ball park, followed by another night of live music by the Shackshakers from 8 p.m. to midnight. The Gordon Good Neighbor Days Pageant Coronation starts at 9 p.m. at the ballpark with fireworks scheduled at the park after dark.
On Sunday, mud volleyball wraps up the weekend of fun. Registration begins at 10 a.m. with the tournament starting at 11:30 a.m.
Minnesuing Acres offers a fireworks display that can be seen lake-wide at nightfall Sunday.
