BARABOO, Wis. (AP) — A Baraboo man convicted of beating a man nearly to death after a low-speed traffic crash has been sentenced to 15 years in prison.
A jury in February found 47-year-old Carl W. Bennett guilty of attempted first-degree intentional homicide. The Juneau County Star-Times says Bennett was sentenced Tuesday.
Bennett had been drinking at a tavern in 2008 with his girlfriend and then-35-year-old David Anderson of Wisconsin Dells. Anderson drove the three home in the girlfriend's car but was involved in a crash.
The girlfriend testified that Bennett began stomping and kicking Anderson in the head and neck. Anderson told the court he lost all memories from before that date.
Bennett told the judge Tuesday he wasn't the one who attacked Anderson.
