Wisconsin historical site cancels July 4th party

Tornado damage has forced Old World Wisconsin to cancel plans for its annual Fourth of July bash.

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Tornado damage has forced Old World Wisconsin to cancel plans for its annual Fourth of July bash.

Old World Wisconsin is a sprawling collection of settler-era villages and farms in Eagle. Party plans included cannon fire, a band concert, a greased pole climb, a barn dance and parade.

But a tornado that devastated the Eagle area Monday caused so much damage to Old World Wisconsin state officials had to close the site.

A reopening date has not been set. Site officials say it will remained closed at least through Monday, July 5.
