The Over 35 Men’s Softball League was back in action June 2. Two teams remain undefeated on the season, and the week’s play had two games decided by just one point.

The Over 35 Men’s Softball League was back in action June 2. Two teams remain undefeated on the season, and the week’s play had two games decided by just one point.

One of those nail-biters was the match-up between Anchor Bar and Lost in the 50s. Despite an 11-run ninth inning rally, Anchor Bar fell to Lost in the 50s by a score of 20-19. Ken Brown and Rick McDermott each collected five hits for the 50s, while for Anchor Bar, Rick and Randy Kolanczyk had three hits each. John Graves was the winning pitcher.

Jimmy’s Saloon remained undefeated at 4-0 with a 40-5 win over the Dugout Lounge. Gary Grant and Roy Deloney both went 7-for-7, while Paul Goodreau and Jim Fields were 5-for-6. Tom DeMars added an inside-the-park home run.

Great Lakes Pipe also moved up to 4-0 with a forfeit win (9-0) over Lost in the 50s and a 65-6 drubbing of Capri Bar. Ray Kosey belted a pair of home runs for the Pipe men. For Capri, John Benoit went 4-for-5 with two triples, and Dan Lehman had four singles to go 4-for-5.

Village Lanes improved to 3-1 with a 21-16 win over the Temple Bar. Tony Sislo again had the hot bat, collecting five hits and to raise his averages to 14-for-19 over the last three games.
