The Wisconsin Farm Bureau Federation hired Wendy Kannel as the new district coordinator for northwestern Wisconsin.
Kannel is responsible for working with county Farm Bureaus to develop and implement programs to serve Farm Bureau members and to coordinate membership recruitment and retention efforts.
“I am excited to be returning to northwest Wisconsin to work with this dynamic organization and am looking forward to working in conjunction with farmers and agriculturists in District 9,” Kannel said.
She will serve Farm Bureau’s District 9, which includes the counties of Barron, Chippewa, Dunn, Pierce, Polk, Rusk, Sawyer, St. Croix, as well as the Superior Shores Farm Bureau which covers Ashland, Bayfield, Douglas and Iron counties. She begins her duties on June 9.
“Wendy’s background in agriculture education, her experience working with volunteers, and her family ties to northwest Wisconsin will be especially helpful as she works with county Farm Bureaus in District 9,” said Bob Leege, Wisconsin Farm Bureau’s Executive Director of Member Relations.
Kannel, 29, grew up on a dairy farm outside of Spring Valley in Pierce County. The UW-River Falls graduate has a degree in agricultural education. She has worked as an agri-science teacher and FFA advisor for the Mishicot School District since 2004, and has served as an adjunct instructor at Lakeshore Technical College in Cleveland, Wis.
