WAUNAKEE, Wis. (AP) — Heisman Trophy winner Ron Dayne's Rose Bowl rings are among the items he says were stolen from two different locations recently.
The former University of Wisconsin running back tells WISC-TV that his two Rose Bowl rings and other jewelry were stolen from his home in Waunakee in early April. Last weekend an apartment in Madison where Dayne lived with a roommate was also burglarized and Dayne says a bracelet commemorating his Heisman win was taken.
In total, Dayne estimates the value of what was taken at more than $140,000.
Dayne says he stopped wearing all the jewelry but he was hoping to pass them down to his kids.
Dayne says he doesn't know if he's being targeted. Police in Waunakee and Madison say they are working together on the case.
