Jimmy's Saloon alone at top of Over 35 softball standings
After three weeks of action in the Superior Over 35 Men’s Softball League, an unfamiliar face sits atop the league standings.
Jimmy’s Saloon defeated Lost in the 50’s 23-7 last week to improve to 3-0. Up next for the leaders is the Dugout Lounge (0-2).
Week No. 1 was highlighted by Jack’s Bar coming up with four runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to defeat Striker’s, 14-13.
Also during the opening week, Great Lakes Pipe continued its winning ways by knocking off Village Lanes, 24-7.
The Pipemen were led by Ken Mertz, who was 7-for-8, and Jim Ross and Dave Sigfrids, who were both 6-for-7.
In week two, Ray Kosey and Bump Clark were both 7-for-8 and Junior Anderson was 6-for-8 with two home runs as well as the winning pitcher as GLP defeated Striker’s.
At Lake Nebagamon, Terry Soo and Tim Tuura paced the Kro Bar in a 44-20 win over the Capri Bar.
John Spalding was 5-for-8 for the Capri.
Tuura was also the winning pitcher while Dave Massoglia suffered the loss for the Capri.
