The No. 3 seeded Northwood Evergreens softball team jumped on the No. 6 seed Solon Springs Eagles early en route to a 13-2 win in five innings Thursday afternoon in a WIAA Division 4 softball tournament game in Minong.
Evergreen pitcher Tressa Harings worked a scoreless first inning then watched as her teammates put six runs on the scoreboard in the bottom of the inning.
With most of their starting players already on the bench, the Evergreens added three more runs in the second inning.
Teagen Harings came in to relieve her sister in the second inning and recorded seven strikeouts while giving up five hits in four innings of work.
The Evergreens will be back in action Tuesday against Butternut, a 16-0 winner over Winter/Lac Courte.
