With less than three months to go for the Superior Central Centennial Reunion to be held Aug. 3-4, organizers have received more than 600 registrations, and they are still coming in. You don’t want to miss the celebration of the century. If you attended Central for even one year, you are welcome. Whether you went to Central High School, or Central Junior High, you are welcome.
If you have not received the registration form, call Marlene at (715) 399-8152, or email firstname.lastname@example.org to receive one.
Leo Ellison, our choir director at the 2004 All Class Reunion, will forming a choir to sing our old Central songs.
Many have signed up to sing, but more local folks are needed who will be able to spend a few days before the reunion practicing these songs. For more information, contact Case.
Bands will be playing both evenings of the reunion. There will be a car show, class gatherings and photos, a memorabilia room and displays of historical Central artifacts by the Douglas County Historical Society. They also have a play based on Central English teacher Lulu Dickinson, who was fired and became the focus of a student strike supporting her. It was widely reported, even as far as New York, where it appeared in The New York Times on May 3, 1927. They also have a book in the works based on some of Central’s famous graduates.
Registration will begin at 9 a.m. on Aug. 3, continuing until 4 p.m. but participants will want to be there early to find out the times of the class gatherings and class photo which will take place on Aug. 3.
Organizers have Central shirts, cups, and magnets for sale. Call Ron Cain at (715) 392-8985 to place an order. All proceeds will go toward the Central All Class Scholarship Fund, which will be set up as a sustaining scholarship for Superior Senior students.
Donations for that fund are also being taken.
