Behind the no-hit pitching of Joel Granquist, the Superior Senior High School baseball team whipped up an 11-1 win over St. Croix High School in the semifinal round of the WIAA sub-regional Âtournament. Superior’s barrage included a first-inning lead-off home run by Mike Susens and back-to-back homers by Jeff Nelson and Ken Lisdahl in the second frame. (1977)
Superior Senior High School pitcher Patty Meysman fashioned a two-hitter and fanned 12 batters to post a 10-2 win over Duluth Cathedral. Cora Roy slammed three hits for the Spartans and Patty and Julie Meysman and Kathy Berg each collected a pair of hits. (1977)
