Three more face charges in connection with Barnes fatality

Three more people are likely to be charged in connection with an incident that resulted in the hit-and-run death of Paul Rauwolf, 38.
The Barnes man was struck by a vehicle in a driveway and later died of his injuries en route to the hospital, according to the Bayfield County Sheriff’s Department. The department was notified of the death by Barnes ambulance, which was transporting Rauwolf.
Rauwolf was struck after a fight between several people Thursday night.
The driver of the truck, Charles Quick of Gordon, later called the sheriff’s department and was arrested at his home, and was released Friday after posting a $50,000 signature bond for intoxicated operation of a motor vehicle and $500 cash bail in connection with leaving the accident.
The sheriff’s department arrested three additional people, ages 38, 46 and 40, all of Barnes. The three are expected to appear in Bayfield County Circuit Court on Tuesday on charges of substantial battery.
Quick was severely beaten prior to Rauwolf being struck and killed.
The Bayfield County District Attorney’s office additional charges may be filed against one or more of the suspects.
The Bayfield County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to interview witnesses and others involved.
The incidents occurred at 2770 Lake Road shortly around 8 p.m. Thursday.
