Teen killed in wrong way crash in Waukesha County

WAUKESHA, Wis. (AP) — A teenage driver died early Saturday after leading a Waukesha County sheriff's deputy on an interstate chase in the wrong lane.

Sheriff's authorities say a deputy tried to pull over the 19-year-old who was driving erratically on Highway 83 in Mukwonago about 12:30 a.m.

Officials say the driver sped away, turned off his lights and headed north in the southbound lanes of I-43.

Several vehicles were able to get out of the driver's way. He eventually crashed into a parked tow truck and was ejected from his vehicle.

The Journal Sentinel reports emergency responders could not revive him.
