Barnes man killed in hit and run
A 38-year-old Barnes man died as a result of injuries sustained in a hit and run accident in the town of Barnes Thursday night
A 38-year-old Barnes man died as a result of injuries sustained in a hit and run accident in the town of Barnes Thursday night, according to a news release issued by the Bayfield County Sheriff’s Department.
The man had been struck by the vehicle and had left the scene by time it was reported.
The Barnes Ambulance, fire department and Bayfield County Sheriff’s department responded to the scene and the victim was transported by ambulance. Crews later notified the sheriff’s department the man had died from the injuries.
According to Lt. Dan Clark, the driver of the vehicle involved called the sheriff’s department wishing to talk to an officer about the incident. The driver was taken into custody by officers of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Department in the Gordon-Wascott area.
The accident remains under investigation. Neither the names of the victim or suspect were released.
The accident occurred shortly after 8 p.m.
