Two Viroqua teens die in prom night crash

VIROQUA, Wis. (AP) — A prom night crash has killed two Viroqua teens and left two others injured.

Vernon County Sheriff Gene Cary says in a statement Monday that the crash happened about 11 p.m. Saturday on Orchard Road, about four miles east of the city of Viroqua.

Seventeen-year-old Nathan Gunderson and 18-year-old Arrow Wildhack died in the crash. Gunderson was in the front passenger seat, and Wildhack was in the rear passenger seat. Official say the two boys were pinned in the vehicle after it left the road and crashed into a large tree.

Seventeen-year-old Rachel Way of Readstown was driving. She and 15-year-old Gina Young of Viroqua walked to a nearby farm for help. They were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

The accident is being investigated.
