On Monday, April 26, at 11:18 the sheriff’s department received a report of a two-vehicle crash on State Highway 35 north of Big McGraw Road in the Town of Blaine. Upon arrival, deputies discovered a 1994 Ford Ranger pickup had collided with an LP gas delivery truck owned by Federated Cooperatives, Inc. and operated by Dainel Schwartz, 48, of Webb Lake. Schwartz was not injured in the crash.
The driver of the Ford truck was the lone occupant of the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene by Burnett County Medical Examiner Pat Taylor.
The driver killed in the crash was identified in the Burnett County Sentinel Thursday as Lee S. Atkins, 77, of Superior.
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Department, North Ambulance and Dairyland Fire Department responded to the crash. It remains under investigation by the Wisconsin State Patrol.
