A Bennett man accused of repeated sexual assault a child was bound over for arraignment Wednesday after waiving a preliminary hearing in Douglas County Circuit Court.
Jamie Todd Pfannes, 41, faces one felony count of repeated sexual assault of a child, a class C felony with a maximum sentence of up to 40 years in prison and $100,000.
According to the criminal complaint:
The charges stem from information provided by Pfannes’ former cell mate at the Douglas County Jail, and phone calls between Pfannes and the child monitored in January while he was in custody.
Pfannes told his former cell mate about having a sexual relationship with a child, and they had been together for a couple of years. The phone conversations between Pfannes and the girl while he was in custody in January and February include references to sex, love and being together forever.
When questioned by Detective John Parenteau with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Department, the child admitted having sex with Pfannes about five times over a two-year span.
An arraignment was scheduled for May 17.
