STEVENS POINT (AP) — Portage County authorities have identified the body of a woman found in the Wisconsin River in Stevens Point.
The coroner's office said Sunday that an autopsy determined that 56-year-old Bernice A. Adams of Stevens Point died of drowning.
A fisherman discovered her body Friday afternoon alongside an island near Bukolt Park in Stevens Point.
The sheriff's department says foul play is not suspected. But the circumstances leading up to her death are still under investigation, including when she died and how she ended up in the river.
