“Back in the World: A Portrait Exhibit of Wisconsin Vietnam Veterans” opens at the Richard I. Bong Veterans Historical center on Saturday.
Featuring the faces and stories of Wisconsin Vietnam War Veterans that participated in the forthcoming Wisconsin Vietnam War Stories documentary and book project, the exhibit includes nearly 30 large-scale portraits by James Gill.
The exhibit will be on display in Superior through May 9. After Superior, it will travel to Green Bay for LZ Lambeau, a welcoming home for Wisconsin’s Vietnam veterans, a weekend of celebration and recognition of the service and sacrifices of Wisconsin’s Vietnam and Vietnam-era veterans.
In addition to the portraits, the Bong Center will also be displaying Vietnam-era materials from its own collection and artifacts from private collections.
During the run of the exhibit the center invites Vietnam veterans to tour the museum at no charge.
