HAVEN, Wis. (AP) — Tiger Woods' announcement that he will return to competition at the Masters Tournament next month at Augusta National has raised the hopes of PGA Championship organizers and Sheboygan County area businesses.
Woods last appearance at Whistling Straights in 2004 helped generate an estimated $75 million for the local economy.
Sheboygan County Administrator Adam Payne says hotel reservations for the championship Aug. 9-15 have been slow, so Woods' return to golf — and possibly — to Whistling Straights is huge for area businesses.
PGA Championship organizers tell WISN-TV the event will shuttle in about 200,000 people.
