New members join SMDC board
Two new members have joined SMDC Health System’s board of directors. Al Hodnik and Chuck Walt will serve three-year terms.
Two new members have joined SMDC Health System’s board of directors. Al Hodnik and Chuck Walt will serve three-year terms.
Hodnik was just named the new chief executive officer of ALLETE, and is a member of its board of directors. ALLETE’s businesses include Minnesota Power, Superior Water, Light and Power, BNI Coal and ALLETE Properties.
Hodnik, who takes over as CEO on May 1 and remains as ALLETE’s president. He has worked for the company in various capacities since 1982. A Hermantown resident born in Northeastern Minnesota, Hodnik is a longtime civic and political activist who served three years as mayor of Aurora.
Walt was just promoted to executive director of programs for the Fond du Lac Reservation. Previously, he served as the band’s associate director of Human Services for 25 years.
He assisted the CEO in administering and managing a variety of health and human service programs.
Walt is a member of the Northland Foundation board of directors and the Men as Peacemakers board. The Solon Springs resident, a member of the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Ojibway, and is a volunteer firefighter and first responder.
