Lake Nebagamon garners fire grants

U.S. Senator Russ Feingold announced last week the Lake Nebagamon Volunteer Fire Department received a 2009 Assistance to Firefighters Grant of $190,523 for vehicle acquisition.

The grant program is administered cooperatively by the National Preparedness Directorate (NPD) and the United States Fire Administration (USFA), which are two components of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

Wisconsin communities submitted 656 applications requesting a total amount of over $90 million. The grants are used to purchase firefighting vehicles, rescue vehicles and ambulances.
