Kortelopet champions take to the podium

CABLE -- Scott Johanik of Washburn, and Dana Roach, Minocqua, skied to victory during the 23-kilometer Kortelopet skate race sponsored by Marshfield Clinic of Hayward finishing at Telemark Resort in Cable.

Johanik finished the Korte skate race in 57:18, and Roach finished in 1:06:50.7.

Placing second in the men’s skate Korte race division was Adam Loomis, Eau Claire, finished in 57:25; and Jeff Cook, Rhinelander, placed third in 57:48.1.

Placing second in the women’s skate Korte division, Eleanor Magnuson, Champlin, Minn., finished in 1:08:25.9, and Summer Ellefson, Park Rapids, Minn., placed third in 1:08:29.5.

In the 23-kilometer Kortelopet classic division, Jake Brown, St. Paul, took top honors in the men’s classic division in 1:05:10.7; Wyatt Behrends, from Hastings, Minn., placed second in 1:05:27.9, and Mark Hugus, Wausau, placed third with a time of 1:05:37.1.

In the women’s classic Kortelopet division, Kelly Skillicorn, Winona, Minn., took top honors in 1:11:32.2; Anne Hart, Stillwater, Minn., placed second with a time of 1:15:16.1; and Nora Gilbertson, Lake Elmo, Minn., placed third with a time of 1:15:31.

More than 10,000 skiers participated in 37th anniversary events from Feb. 25-27.
