Salad lunch

The Douglas County HCE (Home and Community Education) will sponsor a program entitled “What’s “Hot” in Salads” from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday at Peace Lutheran Church, Highway 2, Poplar. Participants will be helping to make and sample several hot salads. Cost of the event is $6.50 for members and $7.50 for non-members. Members will find a registration form in their February newsletter, and non-members can register by calling 398-5400 for information.

Christian women’s gathering

“Heartfelt Hope” is the theme for the Monday Superior Christian Women’s Gathering to be held from noon to 1:30 p.m. at Barker’s Island Inn, 300 Marina Drive, in Superior. Please note the date and time change. Tickets are $11, including program, meal, tip and tax. Special Feature and Main Speaker is Tasha Schuh of Ellsworth, Wis. The title of her presentation is “Somewhere Over the Rainbow: Hope After Tragedy.” Tasha shares how she found hope and purpose beyond her wildest dreams following an accident that left her in a wheelchair for the rest of her life. Service of healing

Healing services at Pilgrim Lutheran Church take place on the third Sunday of each month. The next healing service will be at 5 p.m. Sunday.

Soup suppers

During Lent Pilgrim Lutheran Church will hold Soup Suppers prior to worship on Wednesday evenings. The Soup Suppers begin at 6 p.m. with worship at 6:45 p.m. Wednesday evenings during the months of February and March.

Lenten services

Zion Lutheran Church offers Lenten worship services each Wednesday through March 24. All are welcome to attend the 12:10 and 6:30 p.m. services at the church, 2022 E. Second St. Those attending the 12:10 p.m. service are asked to bring a sack lunch.
