North End Arts Gallery features ‘Snout of the Wolf’

Clay Country: Snout of the Wolf, an exhibit of works by regional clay artists curated by James Grittner, opens Feb. 8 in The North End Arts Gallery, 1323 Broadway St., Suite 1C. Grittner, a long time supporter of ceramic art in America and educator, has advanced the arts with his commitment to clay and his community. He has taught at the University of Wisconsin-Superior for 47 years, instilling a love of art and the life of a potter in many artists.

Jim has chosen artists that reflect the excellence and spectrum of clay styles in the region surrounding the headwaters of Lake Superior, sometimes referred to as the Snout of the Wolf. Some of the artists in the show are: Grittner, Bob Briscoe, Dick Cooter, Richard Gruchalla and Carrin Rosetti, Dave Lynas, Jan Andler, Sara Haugen, Sharon Moen, Broc Allen, Dave Yungner, Bob and Cheryl Husby, James Klueg, Karin Kraemer, Shayne Upthegrove, Barb Stanley, Marty Pearson, Ann Sterbenz-Duus, Sharon Moen, Martye Allen, and Tonya Borgeson.

The exhibit will remain at the gallery until April 3. A gallery talk with Grittner will take place at 5 p.m. Feb. 28 with an artist reception to follow from 6-8 p.m.
