The Superior High School gymnastics team had a record meet Friday at the Twin Ports Gymnastics Center in Superior.
The Spartan girls set a new team high score of 126.05 to win the meet with St. Croix Falls, which finished with 111.75 points. Eight girls also set individual records in at least one event.
Jessica Engstrom set personal records in every event and the all-around category to place first at the meet as an individual. She placed first on bars with an 8.85, tied Laura Schwartz for first place on the vault with 8.60, and also tied for first on the floor event with Shana Soul at 8.50.
Schwartz’ mark on the vault was an event best for her, and she also set a personal record on the floor. Soul’s floor score was also a personal record, and she finished first on the beam with an 8.55 score.
Also setting personal event records were: Carissa Welch, vault, beam, floor; Whitney Podgorak, vault and floor; Stephanie Caldwell, beam; Abbie Bronson, floor; Ronnie Markley, beam; and Haley Johnson, floor.
Bronson, Caldwell and Welch took first at the junior varsity level in floor, vault and beam, respectively.
