1) What is your opinion on the current condition of Wisconsin Point? I think that the condition is appalling! Touted as a scenic place, there is trash and broken glass everywhere. It has been left to deteriorate.

2) What improvements, if any, would you like to see for Wisconsin Point?

1. Fix the roads!!

2. Install permanent public toilets!

3. Include it as part of the City park system so it is monitored and maintained.

4. Provide barriers so native grasses & plants aren't trampled.

5. Increase police patrols to discourage rowdy behavior and curfew breakers.

6. Close the Point at 12 midnight.

1) What is your opinion on the current condition of Wisconsin Point? The last time I took my dogs there for some exercise, we encountered SO MUCH BROKEN GLASS that I decided I would never return - and I haven't.

It's not patrolled, not cleaned up. It's a great resource ruined by lack of management and care. It's the wild west, where anything goes. Not worth visiting, unless maybe you're going there to party and drink and smash beer bottles.

2) What improvements, if any, would you like to see for Wisconsin Point? Close it at night or patrol it better, to avoid it being used as "party central."

Clean it up. Especially the broken glass. Apparently drunk kids don't remember or care that people have dogs, and might like somewhere safe to take them. Broken glass = an unsafe environment for dogs!

1) What is your opinion on the current condition of Wisconsin Point? The current condition of Wisconsin Point is quite disappointing. I believe it was the right thing to do closing the point in the late evening. I am really concerned that my family could be seriously injured by broken glass deposited all around the sand.

I often use the point to launch my kayak. I always use lot #7 and decided to adopt that lot and clean up garbage in that area around parking lot #7 and the sand 50' each direction to the lake. It does seem like an endless task, always new debris and diapers laying around, but I feel it is one area that will be relatively safe to bring my grand daughter.

2) What improvement, if any, would you like to see for Wisconsin Point? What if we could develop a program that would allow volunteers to adopt a lot all along the point. Cleaning up the point is to daunting when you think of it as a whole, but divided not so bad. Larger groups adopting the larger lots could be do-able. Perhaps high school kids would like to organize this or some environmentally friendly volunteer. Anyway I will continue to clean up lot #7.

I like the pristine nature of the point, but I would not be opposed of a trail that runs the lenght of the point. I believe it would be a nugget and well utilized by locals and tourist. At any rate the point needs help, however it is developed or undeveloped. It says a lot about people who leave broken glass strewn and dirty diapers. But I think the people who care about the point could overcome the people who care less.

1) What is your opinion on the current condition of Wisconsin Point? Wisconsin Point is a wonderful place to go and collect your thoughts or let the kids go and burn off some energy. However, in recent years, it has definitely been neglected. The road is in horrible condition and the beach is often littered with debris from fires, long with empty beer cans/bottles. I like to go out there to relax, but it is frustrating to see such a wonderful piece of property being left to the acts of irresponsible folks and in such shabby condition.

2) What improvements, if any, would you like to see for Wisconsin Point? New asphalt on the road. Organize some volunteer to participate in citizen patrols at the Point (if this can legally be done) to assist the Superior Police. Also organize, groups that are willing to go out and help clean up the beach, etc. Years ago, when I was a youngster, I can recall several Native Americans going on there to clean up the point throughout the summer, because of the burial ground.

1) What is your opinion on the current condition of Wisconsin Point? I use it often in the summer for my dogs to run and swim. I always notice burned wood from campfires and sometimes random trash. I don't think its' bad but it could be better. I like the options for parking at a variey of entry points. My kids like to jump off the light house part-i don't like that.

The main entry road is terrible. Way bumpy, too many potholes.

2) What improvements, if any, would you like to see for Wisconsin Point? A station for "puppy poop bags"

Some volunteer groups or troubled youth to do daily trash pick up. OR have "partolling" to teach our community to pick up after themselves.

1) What is your opinion on the current condition of Wisconsin Point? It needs attention, especially the roadway and parking. Could be a much more inviting beach and tourist stop.

1) What is your opinion on the current condition of Wisconsin Point? I think the beaches and such are in good condition. The road, however, leaves much to be desired!

1) What is your opinion on the current condition of Wisconsin Point? The road is a disaster and thus makes it an unwelcome invitation to go there. The area is unclean and needs to have the sand combed periodically to remove cans, bottles, plastic, etc.

No facilities on beach for clothes changing or bathrooms.

2) What improvements, if any, would you like to see for Wisconsin Point?: Safety. It seems every year someone drowns at Wisconsin Point. While this may be the result of carelessness or going beyond safe areas, I have question whether people feel confident of the beach area being safe. Better markers or beach patrol to limit unsafe areas would alleviate this issue.

Repave the road and comb the sand.

A pavilion for changing and bathroom facilities.

Maybe a concession stand to rent bikes, inner tubes, etc during the summer.

1) What is your opinion on the current condition of Wisconsin Point? Good.

2) What improvements, if any, would you like to see for Wisconsin Point? Keep Wisconsin point natural. Less is more.

1) What is your opinion on the current condition of Wisconsin Point? The current condition is what it was 10 years ago when I moved here. I have no basis to compare it too. Although the beach occasionally has trash and I do avoid steeping on glass every now and then I still choose it over the MN point side. The aesthetic beauty is far greater on this side of the bridge and it is a lot less populated.

2) What improvements, if any, would you like to see for Wisconsin Point? The roads are terrible, although I have always seen it as travel at your own risk. I do not want to see garbage cans up and down the beach, but it would be nice to have a dump site somewhere near the exit. At the same time it is going to be hard to make sure the college partiers "pack in what they pack out". A volunteer monthly clean up would be neat, if there isn't one already. Local 4-H clubs etc. would help in this area.

1) What is your opinion on the current condition of Wisconsin Point? This is such a fabulous assest that should be better cared for by the community or sold to private party for development if the government stewards refuse to care for it.

1) What is your opinion on the current condition of Wisconsin Point? This past summer I was excited to bring my husband out to the Point which I loved as a child and teenager. Much to my dismay, it was filthy and strewn with trash.

2) What improvements, if any, would you like to see for Wisconsin Point? It is beautiful and natural. Just clean it up.

It's not like it used to be while visiting there, it was kept very very clean and pristine as a place to visit- it's no longer that way.

1) What is your opinion on the current condition of Wisconsin Point? Its proximity is not its only resemblance to the land fill. I go out metal detecting and find burned piles of cans,bottles and all kinds of trash in the sand. It’s been missused and treated like a dump for too long.

2) What improvements, if any, would you like to see for Wisconsin Point? It should be made into a City/County/State Park so it will get the attention it needs to be kept a clean, safe place to enjoy. It would also help offset some of the costs. People take better care of a park that is already clean when they get there than that beach that is always full of trash (whats a little more?)

Lock the road down at night far enough away from any parking area to make it to much trouble to carry anything in like back at the turn off from the Land fill.

Better trash service and bathrooms so people stop using the tree line (with any luck).

1) What is your opinion on the current condition of Wisconsin Point? Wisconsin Point is in fine condition as is. It is a public place that should be accessable 24/7. It is wrong to have a curfew in a public place.

2) What improvements, if any, would you like to see for Wisconsin Point? We could use additional garbage & recycle containers on the point.

1) What is your opinion on the current condition of Wisconsin Point? Wisconsin Point is one of my favorite places in Superior; it's unfortunate the road is in such poor condition and people have no respect for maintaining this pristine wilderness. Illegal dumping and trash on the beaches is a huge problem.

2) What improvements, if any, would you like to see for Wisconsin Point? The road needs to be repaired! Perhaps then people will realize it isn't a forgetten out of the way place where they can leave their old cath TVs.

1) What is your opinion on the current condition of Wisconsin Point? All in all, nice and more quiet than Minnesota Point. I don't like the dogs running around free and littering. Also I am not a fan of people burning up all the wood and not taking it with them just like any other trash.

2) What improvements, if any, would you like to see for Wisconsin Point? Road needs to be paved new. Enforce no littering.

1) What is your opinion on the current condition of Wisconsin Point? Thought it had deteriorated quite a bit a couple years ago. People aren’t taking care of it but neither is the city. It’s sad. Always preferred it to Park Point. Nice drive and beaches are more peaceful. Enjoy walking around the end, watching waves, strolling the beach.

2) What improvements, if any, would you like to see for Wisconsin Point? Make it more of a park, with a manned gate at the entrance. Might be good to have someone at the very end as well. Could keep an eye on things and be available for help and info. Last visit it seemed more like a place for parties and drugs than good family fun. Would like to see it more desirable for tourists and locals. Keep the pristine nature as much as possible. Fix the road. Appreciate picnic areas. Maybe add some simple places at both ends to buy a snack or refreshment, ample benches to sit and enjoy the scene. It could be a very nice destination without getting too complicated.

1) What is your opinion on the current condition of Wisconsin Point? This property is under-used. The city should create a park and promote Superior's treasure.

1) What is your opinion on the current condition of Wisconsin Point? It is a mess!! Very sad situation! Glass, trash and debris scattered about. Ugly concrete barriers that are unsightly. It appears to be used as an area to party. Does anyone in government value the land? Does anyone care! It aooears not!

2) What improvements, if any, would you like to see for Wisconsin Point? Perhaps this land should be turned into a county, state or federal park. If no one is interested in the care and upkeep then sell it to a developer. At least it would generate some city/county revenue.

1) What is your opinion on the current condition of Wisconsin Point? I really enjoy going to Wisconsin Point and feel that we are fortunate to have a place like this. I know it has been an ongoing problem, but what really sticks out is all of the garbage on the beach.

1) What is your opinion on the current condition of Wisconsin Point? WI point is a beautiful natural area where people can go and enjoy the real natural beauty of the shores of WI. I love WI point just the way it is. My only complaint would be that when some people use it they don't pick up after themselves which is a shame.

2) What improvements, if any, would you like to see for Wisconsin Point? I would love WI point to stay the natural beauty that it is. The only thing i could see as improvements would be possibly some garbage disposals (but I know this is an issue with bears) and possibly some outhouses. Otherwise, don't commercialize it. Keep it the way it is. Peaceful and beautiful.

1) What is your opinion on the current condition of Wisconsin Point? I love Wisconsin Point. No development -- just beach.

2) What improvements, if any, would you like to see for Wisconsin Point? The road needs a little help and a few porta-potties would be nice. But that's all.

1) What is your opinion on the current condition of Wisconsin Point? There are absolutely no amenities for visitors. Last time out there I recall no garbage cans and no toilets.

2) What improvements, if any, would you like to see for Wisconsin Point? Would be nice to make it a destination, clean, limited space for shops, food, etc. Get rid of the chunks of cement and put in eye pleasing vehical barriors or none at all. Campground would be nice, boat launch, etc.

1) What is your opinion on the current condition of Wisconsin Point? I think it's just fine although the road is a bit rough but then again so are many roads in our city.

2) What improvements, if any, would you like to see for Wisconsin Point? none- leave it in its natural state. Any improvements will only increase our taxes further.

2) What improvements, if any, would you like to see for Wisconsin Point? Maybe employ high school or college students as point monitors, picking up garbage and carrying radios to alert police of any problems. Should cut down on problems if more patrol out there.

1) What is your opinion on the current condition of Wisconsin Point? It has been years since I have been there becasue it's boring. If I want to watch a ship come in I will go where the action is. If I want to walk I will go where there are better paved ways, and not the chance of some naked person jumping you or your car being broke into. If I felt like a picnic I would choose some place much cleaner and more inviting to people. Too bad you have to drive by the dump to get there.

1) What is your opinion on the current condition of Wisconsin Point? I think it is a good positive area of the Superior that is going to waste, and isn't being utilized to it's fullest.

2) What improvements, if any, would you like to see for Wisconsin Point? On appearance it looks like an eye sore. Maybe some type of beautification or revitalization project.

1) What is your opinion on the current condition of Wisconsin Point? I think Wisconsin Point is the most beautiful and natural place in Superior to visit. But it's poorly managed, poorly maintained and neglected by both the public and by the city of Superior.

2) What improvements, if any, would you like to see for Wisconsin Point? I would like to see trash cans replaced during the summer months.

I would like to see the refuse concrete that has been put in place along the road by the City of Superior to act as barriers removed because it defaces the beauty of the natural landscape, it's inappropriate and reflects poorly Wisconsin Points image.

I'd like to see less threatening and more welcoming and informational signage.

The road needs new asphalt and proper road bed material is needed in several of the parking areas.

1) What is your opinion on the current condition of Wisconsin Point? I think it is dirty, & unmanaged. There is nothing there, but of course the remainder of natural beauty. The flies are horrendous, broken glass, charred wood on the beach, it is a mess.

2) What improvements, if any, would you like to see for Wisconsin Point? Take a look across the bridge at canal park, it would of course not need to be at that magnitude, but what about a place to eat, or two or three, a bike trail, & some rentals, someone to keep it clean & the people rulely. A place to walk that was safe?? A fountain, some lighthouse management.

1) What is your opinion on the current condition of Wisconsin Point? I love Wisconsin Point! I think it has tons of potential. For instance, look at how Duluth has capitalized on Park Point. That same potential exists for WI Point.

2) What improvements, if any, would you like to see for Wisconsin Point? I would love to see:

1. A better road to WI Point. Right now the quality is lacking.

2. A business that sells ice cream and possibly food either on WI point or right before it (probably close to the ball park so they could have business year round).

3. Garbage and recycling bins at each drive in site.

1) What is your opinion on the current condition of Wisconsin Point? Some parts of the point are in tough shape, broken glass, burned items, but the broken glass is the worst by far. I don't know if it's the college kids, or locals that abuse this great area but they do.

2) What improvements, if any, would you like to see for Wisconsin Point? some kind of refuse containers, or even recyclcing troughs throughout the point. And I think they should consider not allowing glass. Also limit fire size, Maybe there should be some kind of volunteer patrol to do a weekly walkthru, pick up stuff, keep an eye on things. I would volunteer to help in any way.

1) What is your opinion on the current condition of Wisconsin Point? This incredible source of beauty and serenity is one of the few places left that Superior has not banned its people from enjoying. Although, now there is a curfew or you will be fined! Are you kidding?! Until recently, you could hardly drive down there on the awful road conditions. Why would we want to deter anyone from this natural wonder? Other than that, it's a great place to go.

2) What improvements, if any, would you like to see for Wisconsin Point? Keep the roads up, maybe add some picnic areas. It would be great if we had a bike trail going out there! Take a look at all that Duluth does for tourism and their citizens to enjoy the lakefront. Sad to say, we often go there instead. Everywhere on our beautiful shores that you try to access in Superior (Billings Drive, Connors Point, etc.) is blocked by Superior's yellow blocks! And they wonder why the youth of this community don't stay - you're not allowed to do anything! Even the 4 wheel trails are being banned now! Wow, who runs this? They take all our freedoms and ruin it for all.

1) What is your opinion on the current condition of Wisconsin Point? Needs clean up and control of party crowd.

2) What improvements, if any, would you like to see for Wisconsin Point? Make it a city park, requiring a sticker or something for access. Charge those who are not city residents and add garbage cans to the parking areas. Adopt a beach program similar to the highway cleanup program to help control the beach debris. Add memorial benches.

1) What is your opinion on the current condition of Wisconsin Point? Enjoy the solitude one can find, not like at MN point. Do not enjoy broken glass along the beach.

2) What improvements, if any, would you like to see for Wisconsin Point? Maybe some low-vis trash receptacles at the main parking areas as there was in the past, and a small bike path added on to the present roadway (Not a new trail through the center as I have heard). Otherwise, leave it as a natural area as it is now!

1) What is your opinion on the current condition of Wisconsin Point? Currently there are two things that keep me away from wisconsin point. The first and foremost is the condition of the road. It is impassible due to the tremendous potholes that start at moccasin mike road. The second is the garbage.

2) What improvements, if any, would you like to see for Wisconsin Point? I am not sure of what to do about the garbage problem. It seems as though some of the citizens of superior will drive a tremendous distance to dispose of large items that cost money to get rid of. If additional dumpsters and recepticles were placed out there, this would probably give way to even more dumping of large items. Maybe charging a fee, and having a gate such as when entering a parking ramp could be installed at the intersection of Moccasin Mike and the road that goes to the end of the point. The fees would take care of the person monitoring the gate, as well as additional employees to monitor the area during busy times. This gate could be locked in the evening to prevent all of the nighttime issues as well. I would hope people would be willing to pay a couple of bucks per car to help insure the quality of the area. Anyway, I hope some type of solution is found. Ryan Chase

1) What is your opinion on the current condition of Wisconsin Point? My family and I LOVE to go to Wisconsin Point in the summer. It is especially nice on a hot summer day. I do have some concern with the garbage that is left there and also the glass in the sand. My husband and I have picked up garbage many times on our walks by the water. I think having some garbage cans down there could certainly help (it can't hurt). The only problem would be that someone would have to make sure to empty them daily which I know would cost money (but some things are worth spending money on). I also have a BIG concern with the amount of poison ivy out there. I'm not sure what the answer to that is but I know it is a big issue with a lot of people who have children running around out there and also our pets walking through it.

2) What improvements, if any, would you like to see for Wisconsin Point? I would like to find a way to curb the garbage issue. I don't think closing Wisconsin Point is the answer. This is a great place for families to have some family time. This is the only beach that a lot of people are able to go to. It would be a HUGE shame to not be able to enjoy it.

I also think that the road to Wisconsin Point should be addressed. We have a lot of tourist that take a ride down there and the road really is an embarrassment. I know some work has been done on it which is great but it still needs work.

2) What improvements, if any, would you like to see for Wisconsin Point? Open it up to commercial development. Minnesota Point is a show piece - Wisconsin Point is a no piece.
