Thursday

Superior: Kiwanis meets at noon at Aces on 29th. Rob Calhoun of the Senior High School choir is the speaker.

Superior: The Superior Business Improvement District board of directors meets at 3 p.m. at the Historic Old Post Office conference room, 1401 Tower Ave., third floor.

Superior: The Superior Eagle Club, 1710 N. 12th St., hosts a meat raffle every Thursday night at 6 p.m. The club is open to the public. Proceeds support local and national charities.

Superior: Chapter E, PEO Sisterhood, meets at 6 p.m. at the home of Ann Marie Novack for a holiday celebration. Bring a canned item for the food shelf. Co-hostesses include Laura Kremer, Wendy Maas and Monica Tikkanen.

Superior: The University of Wisconsin-Superior brings listeners on a musical journey during “An Evening of International Music” at 7:30 p.m. in Thorpe Langley Auditorium in Old Main. Admission is $5 for adults, $3 for seniors and students. Parking available in university lots of Catlin Avenue, 19th Street and Weeks Avenue.

Duluth: Northland Arts & Crafts Show runs 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at the Burning Tree Plaza, Maple Grove Road.

Duluth: Author Tracy Nelson Maurer reads “Storm Codes” at the Duluth Children’s Museum in the historic Union Depot at 10:30 a.m. Free with membership or Depot admission. Children can make a paper sailor’s flag after the reading.

Superior: The Eagles Auxiliary hosts a Soup & Sandwich all-you-can-eat buffet noon to 2 p.m. at the Eagles Club, 1719 N. 12th St. Cost is $7.

Superior: The Disability, Advocacy, Resource Inclusion Group meets 12:30-3 p.m. in the Superior Public Library to share local and state resources and advocacy ideas for people with disabilities. Free.

Duluth: C. Neal Keye, an assistant professor of history and politics, talks about “Unknown Knowns: What Americans Don’t Know They Know About the Cultural Politics of Torture After Abu Ghraib” at 3:40 p.m. in Room 4119, Tower Hall, College of St. Scholastica. Free. Refreshments served.

Duluth: The Lake Superior Life Care Center invites you to a Carnegie Christmas at the Historic Carnegie Library for an open house 5-8 p.m. 101 W. Second Street. Call 727-3399. Tours, music, refreshments, cash drawings.

Solon Springs: The Superior Singers perform “Shine On” at 7 p.m. at the Solon Springs Community Center. Presented by RAV’N and sponsored by the churches of Gordon, Minong and Solon Springs. Freewill offering accepted. Coffee and cookies served.
