There’s no need to travel great distances for special holiday events; there’s plenty happening in Lake Nebagamon.
The annual tree lighting is set for 6 p.m. Saturday at the Lake Nebagamon Auditorium. There will be songs, dances, crafts for the kids, treats and a very special visit from Santa.
Among those performing will be youngsters from the Lake Effect Dance group, Phil McGrath, Jay Rahman, Carly Karich and dulcimer players. Anyone interested in performing at the celebration should contact Sheryl Kyle, 374-2741.
There will be five craft tables for the kids and special holiday treats. If you have a knack for baking, bring a treat to share.
This will be the last night to purchase tickets for the annual Kids in Nebagamon quilt raffle. Tickets are $1 and proceeds benefit the KIN fund to assist area children in need. The quilt is created for KIN each year by the Village Quilters.
Bring a non-perishable food item to help local food basket projects.
The Holiday House Decorating Contest, sponsored by the Nebagamon Community Association, will make Lake Nebagamon shine!
Everyone is invited to decorate outside their home or business for the holidays.
Judges will travel around the area to view homes and businesses between 7 and 8:30 p.m. Dec. 11. They will be looking for creative decorations. Three top houses will receive gift certificates to local businesses. Winners will be announced at the Light Up Nebagamon event Dec. 12. Light Up Nebagamon
“Light Up Nebagamon” gathers for some old-fashioned fun on the public beach at 4 p.m. Dec. 12. Enjoy singing holiday songs around a huge bonfire and share hot chocolate and cookies. Winners of the lighting contest are announced at 5 p.m.
A Christmas concert featuring the Superior Singers takes place at 4 p.m. Dec. 13, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 11416 E. 1st St., for all of the community to enjoy. Refreshments served following the concert.
Five sessions of Story Time take place at the McGrath, Memorial Library, 11622 E. Hwy. B during December. Children are invited to hear stories and drink hot chocolate 5-6 p.m. Dec. 16; and 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Dec. 23 and 30. Phil McGrath and Sue Enright conduct the Dec. 16 session and Heather Kitzmann, a senior at Northwestern High School, volunteered to conduct the other sessions. Library hours will remain the same except it will be closed at 3 p.m. Thursdays.
Senior Citizen Christmas Dinner
The Senior Citizen Christmas Dinner and Bingo is set for noon Dec. 18, at the Lake Nebagamon Auditorium. Those attending are asked to bring desserts. Calling 374-3101 to sign up. Anyone needing a ride should leave their names and addresses. There will be no take-outs that day.
Christmas Eve services
St. Anthony Church, 11648 E. Hwy. B, holds a Christmas Eve Mass at 7 p.m. Trinity Lutheran Church 11416 E. First St. N., and will offer Christmas Eve services at 4 and 10 p.m.
