The women of Barnes Community Church are hosting their Christmas Tree Walk on Dec. 5 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Four families have decorated their homes for the holidays and will open them to visitors that day. There will also be a bake sale at the church and lunch will be served between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.

The fun begins at 10 a.m. when the church, located on County Road N, two miles east of State Highway 27 in Barnes, opens for ticket sales and a bake sale. Tour tickets are $10, and may be purchased either that day or by calling Sue at 795-2403, Nancy at 795-3007, or Sue at 795-3156 to purchase ahead of the date. With the ticket, there is a description of each of the homes along with directions to each home accompanied by a map.

The four families whose homes are on the tour each have a unique decorating theme.

For Bart and Lynn Mueller, antiques and collectibles add to the rustic north woods theme.

At Dana and Brian Hodowanic’s home, decorations reflect many years of collecting and also their love of dogs.

Maris and Joanne Freiman’s home blends Cape Cod and coastal elements as well as an eclectic style in art and holiday decorating.

Arriving at Vicky and Dave Van Ells’ home, it is clear that a love of nature is celebrated. Decorations in this home enhance this emphasis.

In addition to the opportunity to visit these beautiful homes, a lunch of soup, sandwich and dessert will be offered at the church for $6.

Those taking the tour will be able to take a break anytime between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. and enjoy eating in the festively decorated atmosphere of the church.

The event is a wonderful way to begin the holiday season, and the Barnes Christian Women use the money raised by this event to further community outreach and missionary activities sponsored by Barnes Church.
