Public input needed for zoo master plan

The public will be able to provide input into a new master plan for the Lake Superior Zoo. From 4:30-7 p.m. Wednesday at the zoo’s main building.

The Lake Superior Zoological Society has selected of Studio Hanson/Roberts of Seattle, Wash. and their team experts to develop the new master plan.

The process begins immediately with a weeklong Vision Workshop, with the consultants onsite at the zoo beginning Monday. The goal is to complete the master plan by February 2010.

The Open House is an opportunity for interested individuals to share their ideas for the future development of the zoo.

Studio Hanson/Roberts has assembled a highly-skilled master planning team. Collectively this team has more than 30 years of experience designing and planning for zoos around the world. The three firms have worked in zoos, parks and museums from Minnesota to Australia, and from Chicago to New Zealand. Their experience is vast, their enthusiasm wide, and their passion is contagious.

The Zoological Society is delighted to have the help of this trained team of professionals.

During the Master Plan Open House Wednesday, members of the public can meet the consulting team, offer input, discuss concerns and ask questions. For more information, call Sam Maida at (218) 730-4500.
