Meat raffle

Thursday, Superior: The Superior Eagle Club, 1710 N. 12th St., hosts a meat raffle every Thursday night at 6 p.m. The club is open to the public. Proceeds support local and national charities.

Fundraisers

Thursday, Superior: The Douglas County Democratic Party holds a fundraiser at Le Bistro from 7-9 p.m. There are still a few stops left. Those interested can e-mail chair Warren Bender at dougalsctydems@gmail.com or call 394-7453 by Wednesday.

Friday, Superior: The Eagles Auxiliary hosts a soup, sandwich, salad and sundae all-you-can-eat buffet from noon to 3 p.m. at the Eagles Club, 1710 N. 12th St. Cost is $7 for adults, $4 for children under age 12. Proceeds will go to local charities. Open to the public.

Benefit

Thursday, Superior: A benefit spaghetti dinner for Karla and Jim Hanson who have had several financial setbacks runs 4-5 p.m. at Concordia Lutheran Church 1708 John Ave Cost is $9 adults, children 6-12, $5, five and under are free. Free meal

Wednesday, Superior: Applebees restaurant is offering a free entrée, including traditional sides, to all U.S. veterans and active military personnel at all Applebees restaurant locations nationwide during regular business hours.

Adoption session

Thursday, Duluth: Lutheran Social Services hosts a session for families hoping to adopt. The session runs 6-8 p.m. at the LSS office in the Ordean Building, 424 W. Superior St., Room A.

Presentations

Thursday, Duluth: Islamic scholar Kashif Saroya will give a talk entitled “American Muslims: The Next Generation” at 7 p.m. in Somers Lounge at the College of St. Scholastica. Free.

Thursday, Superior: The Superior Public Library will present a program “The Military Road and Scott House” at 7 p.m. The book is about life at the Head of the Lakes during the 1850s and 1860s.

Friday, Superior: Learn how to landscape to attract wildlife during the brown bag series for Master Gardeners hosted by UW-Extension. Call 395-1363.

Thursday-Sunday, Duluth: The Marshall School drama department presents the musical “Once Upon a Mattress” at 7 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday in the Fregeau Auditorium on the Marshall School campus at 1215 Rice Lake Road. Tickets are $7 for adults, $5 for students, $3 for Marshall students.

Friday-Saturday, Duluth: The indie rock band Turbo Rathvon of Duluth performs at 10 p.m. Friday at Pizza Luce with The Tisdales of Minneapolis. Turbo Rathvon will also perform at The Rex Bar at Fitger’s at 10 p.m. Saturday. Admission $5 for each performance.

Friday, Duluth: The 10th Annual Story Hour concert featuring the UMD Symphony Orchestra begins at 7:30 p.m. in Weber Music Hall. Cost $8 for adults, $7 for seniors, $5 for students, $3 for UMD students, free for children ages 12 and under.

Thursday, Superior: The Superior Business Improvement District holds a board of director’s meeting at 3 p.m. in the Old Post Office building.

Thursday, Superior: Chapter E, PEO Sisterhood, meets at 7 p.m. at the home of Carol Baker. The program will be on youth leadership. Hostesses are Carol Baker, Beverly Underdale and Wendy Maas.

Thursday, Superior: Old Town Travelers meet at 7 p.m. at the St. Francis Parish Hall. There are three Rittenhouse trips in December. The Nov. 14 play at Chanhassen is “Oklahoma.” The Plymouth playhouse for church basement ladies is full for Dec. 2, but another trip is planned for January. Campus visit

Thursday, Duluth: Marshall School holds a Campus Visit Day from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Visiting students are paired with a Marshall host and spend the day attending classes. Call 727-7266 in advance to register. The school is located at 1215 Rice Lake Road.
