BRUCE, Wis. (AP) — A bank robbery suspect has been shot and killed in western Wisconsin, another is on the run and one has been arrested.
That's according to Lt. Jeff Lorentz, of the Wisconsin State Patrol.
He says three people attempted to rob a bank in Exeland in Sawyer County about 2:20 p.m. Friday. He had limited information on the circumstances, but said one man ran away, one was arrested and one left in a car.
Law enforcement chased the car to an area west of Bruce in Rusk County, where a law enforcement officer shot and killed the man. Lorentz didn't know if it involved a police officer or sheriff's deputy, but knew it wasn't a State Patrol trooper.
He says there have been a string of bank robberies in the area but he didn't know if they were connected.
