Five Northwood students were injured in a two-car accident Thursday morning at the intersection of County Highway T and Highway 53 in Wascott. All five were transported by ambulance to hospitals, according to Lt. Gerald Moe of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Department.

The accident occurred around 8 a.m. when a westbound vehicle pulled out in front of a vehicle driving southbound on Highway 53, Moe said. Although a light rain was falling at the time, weather was not considered a factor in the accident, he said.

Traffic was stopped for about 20 minutes following the crash. Moe indicated that only one of the students was seriously injured and no one was critically injured. Ambulances from Gold Cross, Minong and the Gordon/Wascott Emergency Medical Service assisted with the call.

An accident report was not available Thursday.
