At about 1:23 a.m. Thursday officers from the Superior Police Department responded to the gas station at 1706 Tower Ave. on a report that an armed robbery had just occurred.
Officers arrived and received information that a single male robber had entered the store and demanded money. It is unknown if the suspect in fact was armed, however, his actions gave the store clerk the impression that he may have had a gun in his pocket.
At approximately 4 a.m. Thursday Dennis James Houle, Jr., age 26, of Superior, was arrested at the Superior Police Department on the charge of armed robbery and lodged in the Douglas County Jail. No weapon was located at the time of Houle’s arrest.
The investigation into this robbery is on-going at this time. No further information is being released at this time.
In Wisconsin armed robbery is a Class C felony, and upon conviction punishable by a fine not to exceed $100,000, or imprisonment not to exceed 40 years, or both.
Houle is expected to make an initial appearance in Douglas County Court Friday.
